I would like to share about my faith (what I believe) and what scripture teaches us. First, I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I am not without sin; I have simply asked for and accepted God’s forgiveness. I still stumble along as I learn to walk more and more in His way.
I do not believe that there is one denomination that has it all right. We (people) and the church are unfortunately human, and struggle with a little something called the sin nature. Just as no person (besides Jesus) is perfect, no church or denomination is perfect. Jesus still taught the church, the body of believers and the Bride, is not to be foresaken. You need to be involved in Godly fellowship somewhere. Find a church that teaches scripture accurately, for it is either God’s Holy word or it isn't. It is our foundation and it (the Bible) is the inherent word of God. Anyone altering that teaching is to be cast out. God warned us long ago of individuals who corrupt his word. Satan has been at it since the Garden. Remember, God created the garden for us. We are the ones that messed everything up.
I also believe that God is still in control and that we win in the end.
Below are some basic tenants, not a comprehensive list, just a simple outline of Christian principles. This is a list I am still working on; it is a compilation from different (Bible Based) churches, teachers and speakers and my own thoughts. Hence, it is not a perfect (as I have pointed out) outline of Christian principles, so please use this list as a springboard to further study and learn of God’s Greatness. I am not a bible scholar, but I believe that we are all to be students of the bible.
Statements of Faith
I believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. The Original Scriptures are without error and are unchangeable. Translations are doctrinaly sound.
I believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; who is the Creator and Lord of the universe and who governs all things according to His will and purposes.
I believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, and in His miracles.
I believe Jesus (on earth) was completely man in nature, struggling as we struggle.
I believe in His atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection and in His ascension to the right hand of the Father. We wait His personal return in power and glory.
I believe that Jesus Christ is God's only provision for sin and that salvation is wholly a work of God's free grace and not of works, goodness or religious ceremony.
I believe that faith without works is useless.
I believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling enable us to live a godly life.
I believe God gave us freewill; the ability to choose between right and wrong.
I believe in the resurrection of both the saved and lost -- the saved unto the resurrection of life; the lost unto the resurrection of death.
I believe that Satan and Hell exist, and we are victorious over both.
I believe Jesus Christ is the Head of the church, and all Christians make up the body.
I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you".
If you would like to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, just call on His name, and ask Him to be your God.
There are several "guides", such as the Roman Road (seen below); which is an excellent guide/tool to help understand what the salvation process entails.
BUT, all you need to do is call on His name to save you from sin; just ask the criminal on the cross when Jesus told him that he would be with Jesus in paradise.
However, this is just the beginning of your journey.
If you leave it at that and do not try to learn and follow His teachings, you missed the boat.
God will guide you as you learn and grow.
He wants to bless you and walk with you.
If you have accepted Him, find a Bible believing church with good fellowship and if possible a worship style that blesses you.
Do not go for entertainment, go to be spiritually fed.
Roman Road: a simple outline of the plan of salvation from scripture found in Romans.
Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, 10, 13, 3:20a
Accept: all have sinned
Confess: your sins
Repent; of those sins (turn from them and stay away)
Believe: in Jesus
Receive: just accept completely "in faith" that you are now a child of GOD!
